Outstanding Summer Associates The Firm is pleased to have four impressive law students who will clerk with us as summer associates. They have outstanding backgrounds and experience. Amanda Deering received her B.S. in Sociology and Chemistry from Austin Peay State University, is in the final stages of completing her M.S. in Chemistry from Notre Dame and has completed her second year at Michigan State University College of Law. Samuel Brown received his B.S. in Chemistry from Morehouse College, his M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Vanderbilt University and has completed his second year at Chicago-Kent College of Law. James Cline received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with highest honors, from Georgia Institute of Technology and has completed his first year at The University of Tennessee College of Law. Vitaliy Orekhov received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Tennessee and has completed his first year at the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
Eleventh Annual Carbolic Smoke Ball The Firm is a sponsor of the Eleventh Annual Carbolic Smoke Ball to be held on July 11th. This year's Ball will feature a casino and will benefit CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), an organization that aids children in the legal system.
SUN RECORDS Trademarks Mark Patterson and Ed Lanquist recently assisted Sun Entertainment International, Inc., owner of the famous SUN RECORDS trademarks, in successfully resolving a trademark infringement dispute with Sun Studio Entertainment, Inc.
Tri State Distribution, Inc. Dispute Settled Jim Cartiglia and Emily Shouse settled a patent infringement dispute on behalf of the Firm's client Tri State Distribution, Inc.
Ed Lanquist, Ryan Levy and John Triggs Westwood Success Ed Lanquist, Ryan Levy and John Triggs successfully represented the Tennessee company Westwood Footwear and Accessories, LLC, its Chinese manufacturer Nantong Hong Yi Wang Shoes Co., Ltd. of China and Westwood CEO Glen Bratcher in a suit brought by Rocky Brands, Inc. in the Federal Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
2008 Excellence in Manufacturing Awards For the second year, the Firm was a presenting sponsor for the 2008 Nashville Chamber of Commerce and Nashville Business Journal's Excellence in Manufacturing Awards. This program was designed to recognize and encourage manufacturers in the 10-county Middle Tennessee region that have contributed to the region's health by achieving excellence in manufacturing, warehousing or distribution aspects of the supply chain.
Emily Shouse President of Young Lawyers Division Emily Shouse is currently serving as President of the Young Lawyers Division of the Nashville Bar Association for its 2007-2008 year.
