Patents grant property rights on new and useful inventions, allowing the patent holder to prevent others from using, making, or selling that invention without permission for a limited time. U.S. patents are permitted by the U.S. Constitution and are designed to promote scientific progress and invention. By allowing inventors to profit from licensing or selling their patent rights, inventors can recoup their research and development costs and benefit financially from their inventing efforts. There are three main types of patents utility, plant, and design. Utility and plant patents can last up to 20 years, while design patents can last up to 15 years. When a patent expires, the patented material enters the public domain, making it free to use by anyone without a license. U.S. patents are issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

U.S. Patent No. 11,704,759 entitled “Apparatuses, Systems, and Methods for Obtaining and Recording Consent for a Proposed Object of Consent for  Digital Agreement Using a Blockchain” issued July 18, 2023 to Monax Industries Limited of London, United Kingdom. Invented by Casey Kuhlman of Edinburgh, United Kingdom; Jan Hendrik Scheufen of Chappaqua, New York and Anjlee Khurana of Nashville, Tennessee. Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods are described for selectively performing one or more operations relating to an object of consent. The system includes (i) a network, (ii) a user device having an input device and configured to obtain an object of consent from a user of the user device via the input device, (iii) a server having a storage and configured to receive the object of consent from the user device, to perform at least one data processing operation associated with the object of consent, to store a result of the data processing operation at the storage, and to generate an agreement object associated with the object of consent, and (iv) a blockchain configured to receive the agreement object, to combine at least one of identity information or permission information associated with the agreement object, and to selectively store a consent record by the blockchain.

U.S. Patent No. 11,701,294 entitled “Battery-Powered Percussive Massage Device with Pressure Sensor” issued July 18, 2023 to Hyperice IP SubCo, LLC of Irvine, California. Invented by Robert Marton of Yorba Linda, California and Anthony Katz of Laguna Niguel, California. Abstract: A percussive massage device includes an enclosure having a cylindrical bore that extends along a longitudinal axis. A motor has a rotatable shaft that rotates about a central axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. A crank coupled to the shaft includes a pivot, which is offset from the central axis of the shaft. A reciprocation linkage has a first end coupled to the pivot of the crank. A piston has a first end coupled to a second end of the reciprocation linkage. The piston is constrained to move within a cylinder along the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical bore. An applicator head has a first end coupled to a second end of the piston and has a second end exposed outside the cylindrical bore for application to a person receiving treatment. A motor controller measures current applied to the motor and displays a pressure indicator responsive to the measured current.
